Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information [Company legal name] ("See Spot", "we", "us") collects through see-spot.com, how it is used, and who it is shared with. We try to collect only what we need to run the service.
Who This Covers
Businesses and their staff, who have accounts. Pet owners and other visitors, who open a pet's page from a link and do not have an account. Each group is covered below.
Information From Businesses and Staff
When you sign up or use See Spot we collect:
- account holder: email address and password (stored only in scrambled form, never readable by us)
- business details: business name, page address, time zone and branding color
- staff: name, username, password (scrambled), role label, and a photo if you add one
- pets: the pet's name, the owner's last name, an optional photo, and check-in and check-out times
- what you post: photos, video and messages, with who posted them and when
- billing: your plan and payment status. Card details are entered with and held by Stripe; we never see or store them
Information From Pet Owners and Visitors
Pet owners do not create accounts and we do not ask for their name, email or phone number. When someone opens a pet's page, our hosting provider records technical information such as the device and browser type and an IP address, which we use to keep the service running and secure.
If an owner chooses to turn on notifications, their browser gives us a notification address (a technical identifier for that device). We use it only to tell them when something new is shared on that pet's page, and they can turn notifications off at any time. A pet's page may also save a small note in the browser, such as that you have already seen the notification prompt.
Pet Pages Are Public to People With the Link
A pet's page can be opened by anyone who has its address, which is made from the business's page address and the pet's and owner's names. Pages show only entries the business has chosen to share. We ask search engines not to list them, but anyone you give the link to can pass it on. Businesses control what is shared and can stop sharing an entry, or delete the pet, at any time.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide the service: show pages, store and display photos and video, send sign-in and password emails, and send notifications owners asked for
- bill for subscriptions and enforce plan limits
- keep See Spot secure, prevent abuse and fix problems
- answer support requests
- meet legal obligations
We Do Not Sell Your Information
We do not sell personal information and we do not use your photos, video or messages for advertising.
Companies That Help Us Run See Spot
We use these providers, who handle information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: database and sign-in
- Cloudflare: storage for photos and video
- Vercel: website hosting
- Resend: sending emails such as confirmation and password reset
- Stripe: payments and billing
How Long We Keep Information
Each entry a business posts (its message, photos and videos together) is deleted automatically 30 days after it is posted, whether or not it was shared; entries that existed before this rule started count their 30 days from the day it started. Other information, such as pets and pet and staff photos, is kept until the business deletes it or ends its account. Deleting a pet removes its page, photos and videos, and the files are removed from storage within about a day. Unattached uploads that were never posted are removed after about a day. Some records may be kept longer where the law requires, for example billing records, and backups may hold deleted data for a short time before they are overwritten.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Passwords are stored in scrambled form. Photos and video are kept in private storage and shown only through short-lived links. Each business can see only its own data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Your Choices and Rights
You can see and change your business and staff details in Settings, and delete pets and content yourself. To ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected or deleted, contact [support email]. Pet owners can turn off notifications in their browser or phone settings, and can ask the business that shared a page to remove it.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal information. Tell us what you would like and we will respond as the law requires.
Children
See Spot is for businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Where Information Is Stored
Information is stored and processed in the United States. If you use See Spot from elsewhere, you understand your information will be transferred there.
Changes and Contact
We may update this policy. If a change is significant we will tell you before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
